A Bit About Me

Hi there! My name is Emily, and I currently live in Brighton, UK, whilst I finish my Master's course. I have been tutoring for the last three years, during my undergraduate studies, and have absolutely loved watching my students grow, gain confidence, and confidently enter deep discussions about STEM concepts.

I have tutored for KS2, KS3, GCSE and A Level in STEM, with my students achieving their target grades during state examinations. I also love tutoring for the Extended Project Qualification, which is a chance for students to immerse themselves in researching a topic of their choosing.

My degree in Medical Neuroscience has given me a strong foundational knowledge of cognitive development throughout childhood into adulthood, and I have loved incorporating my neuroscience knowledge into my tutoring methods.

Outside of my studies and tutoring, I love dancing, singing and playing the piano. My most recent hobby I have started is learning British Sign Language, which is great to keep the brain engaged, work on motor skills and for communicating with more people!

Work Experience

June 2025 - April 2026

July 2024 - May 2025

January 2023 - June 2024

Emily is finishing her undergraduate year, and starting postgraduate education. The summer saw her undertake an eight-week research project on energy levels in mood disorders, as well as volunteer as a teaching assistant for the International Youth Neuroscience Association's Summer School. She also founded EmBrace Tutoring.

Emily wrote and submitted her undergraduate dissertation, researching how the brain processes basic arithmetic calculations. This research project also discussed and recommended teaching interventions for students with Maths Learning Disabilities. Emily also hosted a conference at University of Sussex, promoting discussions on the neuroscience of wellbeing.

Emily founded a Podcast series, 'Hidden Disabilities', which provides a platform for people to discuss neurological conditions and the impact this has had on their education. Emily also volunteered at outreach events, teaching children about bioelectricity and motor control.
